Hey Longhorns,
This week’s updates and big news can be found below!
New Updates
1. Southwest Conference Fight-Offs
Texas Taekwondo will be hosting the annual Southwest Conference Fight-offs this Saturday, February 25th from 10-5pm. We’ll have teams and organizations from across the state so it’s sure to be an exciting day! To sign up to fight or volunteer, go to: http://utsporttkd.com/fight-offs-application/

2. Tabling Event THIS WEEK
To prep for our big Saturday tournament (see item 1), we’ll be tabling at Gregory this Wednesday to get the word out. Please go to this link in order to sign up to help: http://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFIKbDg4U0ItamtINy1uN09JaFZhd2c6MQ
3. Tip of the Week
The major focus of our strategy is to always apply pressure to the opponent. While checks and movement (along with the cut) are the best way to keep your opponent on their toes, you also need to remember to always go first. Make them have to react to your decisions and not the other way around.
4. Kicks 4 Kids
We will be training the students the basics of sparring and ending the semester with a competition! Please email texastaekwondo@gmail.com if you’re interested in donating or helping out. Also, we will not run class this week as the Elementary School has Monday off.
Ongoing Information
5. Officer Update
The spring semester is always an exciting round of tournaments and training for the “big dance” at MIT this April. Currently our officers are focusing on organizing sparring opportunities with other schools. We have several dates officially on the calendar so if you’d like to get involved with the planning, please contact the officers via our gmail account (texastaekwondo@gmail.com)
6. Practice
We have kicking practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9pm in RSC 1.138. We also have a TA format practice on Saturday from 12-2 to work on specific problems. However, spring season usually sends us across the state (and nation) for weekend competitions so check our competition schedule for details. We can always use more training partners so share the news about this activity we all love.
General Information
7. Anonymous Response Form
See anywhere we could be improved? Have ideas for team training? We need your feedback! Fill out this form to let us know how we can better serve you. It’s completely anonymous so don’t feel shy about being completely honest. The form can be found here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHpBNEt0VHZVYVR3b3dwRUdoT3lGNXc6MQ
8. Membership Forms + Dues
Membership forms can be obtained from any of the officers and must be completely filled out and returned. Along with the filled out form you need your insurance information and dues. If you chose to write a check, they should be made out to “Texas Taekwondo.” Once your form and dues have been turned in, we will add you to the Texas Taekwondo Facebook group where our lessons and conversations are documented with photos and videos. If you haven’t turned in your paperwork by your third class day, we can’t allow you to kick with us for liability reasons.
